Two expecting mothers formed a bond and spent the majority of their last trimester hanging out together.

Over the years, Lauren Maners has fostered several animals, and it is one of her favorite activities. However, Lauren recently made the decision to stop fostering as she was ready to give birth to her child.

Lauren said, “I had a long history of fostering and rehabbing animals, but as I got closer to the end of my pregnancy, I decided it was time to take a break from it all because the animals I typically fostered/rehabbed were usually sickly and required a lot of care, which I wouldn’t have time for once the baby arrived. She was certain that’s what she wanted before Dove entered the picture.

When Lauren and her husband were considering taking a break from fostering, they came across a hurt cat on the side of the road. Naturally, they stopped to check on the cat, and Lauren soon realized that she was not only hurt, but also expecting a baby!

Lauren said, “I felt a connection to her since we were both extremely pregnant and I knew she was in bad trouble.

We took her to the vet after I captured her by luring her with our leftover food and placing her in my jacket.

When the cat was finally given the name Dove, the couple first took her to the clinic for care before bringing her home to rest. They inquired about the cat around the area to see if someone was looking for her, but they soon learned that she had lived most of her life as a stray.

Lauren was compelled to abandon her own rule and take Dove in.

The two expecting women became friends and hung together throughout their last weeks of pregnancy.

Lauren said, “She liked sitting outside with me in our fenced-in area in the mornings and having me touch her stomach while we had breakfast. She would follow me everywhere I went.

Kylie, Lauren’s child, was on the verge of being born.

While Lauren was giving birth to Kylie in the hospital, Dove was giving birth to her own children at home. They may have been born at the same time, Lauren guessed.

After Dove spent many months living with Lauren and her family, Lauren found Dove and her kittens the best forever homes. Fortunately, Kylie and Lauren can converse with all seven of them because they are close to each other.

I can still monitor the mother cat because she moved in with a friend of mine, which is a blessing. Additionally, a few of the infants were given to people I know, allowing me to see them, Lauren said.
